The first test of the new generation of Asus and Intel. Core i7-10750h in the thin Zephyrus M15

Only we talked about processors AMD For laptops, how Asus knocked and offered to look at … new processors from Intel. Given the fact that the AMD tests have not yet begged, it was stupid to refuse to refuse. Therefore, meet: Asus rog Zephyrus M15 – Subtle game machine on a six -core Intel Core i7-10750h and part -time owner of the best keyboard on my memory.

Processors

With Intel processors confusion. The first 10s appeared last year, but only in the form of U-versions for working-office laptops. The update is purely conditional. The stones were built on the next version of Skylake, calling it Comet Lake , They threw them 100-200 MHz to turbo times and https://scarab-wins-casino.co.uk/ sent on sale.

In February 2020, Intel released 11 more tenth processors-and again for working systems with low energy consumption. Only this time it was already completely different stones. Firstly, they were made not by 14-nm, but in 10-nm norms. Secondly, they received new graphic nuclei and support for Thunderbolt 3. Thirdly, it was a new architecture Ice Lake.

I will not deceive: it was not possible to personally test these stones, but, according to our colleagues, they turned out to be good, but not outstanding. In fact, only graphic nuclei were interesting, which showed an increase of 30% relative to Comet Lake.

And finally, now we are talking about the third wave of 10 generation – high -performance processors for workstations and gaming laptops. They went out on the architecture of Comet Lake and at 14 nm. In total, five models entered the line. The youngest – Core i5-10300h on four nuclei and eight streams; our i7-10750h – for 6 nuclei and 12 flows; and three eight -core – i7-10875h , i9-10885h And i9-10980HK – with an unlocked factor, but disconnected by Hyper Threading. Technically, crystals repeat the past generation, but there are a couple of differences.

The first – for the i7 and i9, 5.3 GHz for the senior I9 and 5 GHz – for our i7 is declared in a single -flow load -. Second – the frequencies of RAM increased. If earlier 98% of laptops were supplied with strips not higher than 2667 MHz, now the i5 and younger i7 will be equipped with DDR4 for 2933 MHz, and the older three processors – by 3200 MHz. Recall that AMD and AMD in the new Ryzen for laptops went to a similar increase in frequencies.

We test

As I said, in our laptop there was Core i7-10750H. These are six nuclei, twelve flows and frequency from 2.6 to 5 GHz. In a couple to it, ASUS put an RTX 2060, SSD on 1 TB and 16 GB of RAM for 2933 MHz, but for some reason in one channel, which laptops are extremely not like.

Let's go for work now. First: the promised 5 GHz does not give the processor. Bursts per core sometimes happen, but too rare. Real indicators fluctuate around 4.4-4.5 GHz at short-term loads. The rendering is 3.8-3.9 GHz. Well, under Prime 95 – 3.5 GHz. That is, in general, everything is like in the last ninth series.

However, if we talk about the results, then Intel is still dragging. Of course, comparing a six -manor directly with the eight -derman AMD makes no sense. But Intel still wins the same -flow tests. And this means that the top i9 has a chance to win if they are not affected by HT. Moreover, the Ryzen 9 did not particularly stand out in terms of frequencies: in the same PR95 he held 2.8 GHz, and in 3ds Max worked around 3.1 GHz.

At the same time, interestingly, both processors operate in about one temperature range-this is 82-83 ° C. The only thing in the case of M15 was much more strained by the cooling system. It is clear that we have a very thin machine (only 18.9 mm with a weight of about 2 kg), but the G14 on AMD was also thin, but behaved noticeably quieter. And this despite the fact that usually I had no questions for cooling in ASUS: they make really cool systems. And in the case of M15, we are talking about five heating pipes, fans with 83 blades and liquid metal instead of thermal paste.

True, we must make a reservation: the fact is that several work options are sewn into the laptop. We carried out all the tests in the most aggressive – this is Turbo. But in reality, the main working mode is "effective". The frequencies in the same 3DS Max fall from 4.4 to 3.7-4 GHz, temperatures range from 80 to 90 ° C, but the fans do not hit the ears.

Laptop

Well, now about the laptop itself. Despite the fact that there are some technical issues on the model, the M15 chassis is amazing. Firstly, as I already said, the laptop is very thin and light-even with a charger it turns out only 2.5 kg. Secondly, it has a strict design: this is a clean rectangle with slightly rounded faces. Thirdly, ASUS picked up a successful color of the case, and both outside and inside.

The assembly is also no questions: everything is fitted perfectly, the lower cover is made a flush with the base. And, probably, the only claim is a small angle of opening the screen. There are situations when you hold the laptop on your knees, I want to throw the screen away, and the hinge does not give this.

The next point in design is the proportion. In general, this is an ASUS chip: it encloses the screen in thin frames, but makes a large tide below. Due to this display is higher, you do not have to bend to it, and the lower half of the case is more. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the volume of the case and the quality of cooling, and also leaves a lot of hand space. The wrists are entirely laid on the panel in front of the keyboard and do not rest against the edges of the case, and this is very convenient not only during the game, but also when printing. Moreover, ASUS has excellent keyboard.

Nothing unusual, but she has a strong substrate, almost silent buttons with proper tactile dedication and a clear backlight with the ability to choose a color. At the same time, the keyboard supports combinations of any complexity, and the volume keys and disconnecting the microphone for convenience are displayed upstairs. But the touchpad at the laptop is ambiguous. Firstly, this is a regular panel-button, which is not very convenient in games. Secondly, it is quite tough. It seems to be good, because it is always clear whether it went a click or not, but at the same time, a finger tired after some time for some time. For example, passing Yes, Your Grace Without a mouse, I was with difficulty.

Binding

The next is the screen. Here ASUS surprised: this is probably the second or third laptop in my memory, which was calibrated at the factory, and at a coverage of 95.5% SRGB Delta, it gets 0.91. Roughly speaking, for the designer it is – I got it and work. According to other characteristics, this is IPS, in our case, 240 Hz with Full HD permissance. But also on sale will appear working options on IPS with 60 Hz and 4K. And also with a low delta.

Strained asus and sound. At the exit there is a DAC from Ess Sabre, and it really plays so that even audiophiles will be satisfied. Of course, this is not Hi-End, but there are no global complaints about the sound: there is enough reserve by power to pump the speakers of 64 Ohms, and the equalizer settings are adequate enough to remove small roughnesses. I liked the speakers. They have a lot of middle, which affects the sound well, but I would add volume to them. Moreover, the emitters look down, and they are very easy to block.

Well, the last one is a set of connectors. In general, nothing has changed with the new processor. There is LAN at 2.5 Gb/s, HDMI, separate exit to the headset, three USB Type-A and one USB Type-C with the built-in Thunderbolt 3. This is the one that can give a video and accept the charge. That is, you can really not carry a semi-kilogram power supply with you and take a small usb-ship on the trip. The only main thing is that it gives out 65 watts, otherwise the battery will not be charged during work, and it must be borne in mind that in this mode the laptop will not come out at full power according to the schedule. You can also connect through the USB to the external Power Bank, but also with the understanding that this mode is not for games, and with office use, the main battery will also be discharged, just a little slower due to the use of an external source.

By the way, since the topic was touched by the topic: she holds very well. Yes, in games, as usual, twenty work is released, but in office mode the laptop lives for almost six hours.

We will not draw unequivocal conclusions on new processors: we still have to get the past generation to tests and update the test base. Plus you need to look at the "thick" laptops in which the stones will not restrain cooling. And, of course, the system on one memory channel is very cut according to the possibilities. But according to the first results, the tenth generation of Intel can and will fight the new Ryzen, at least this year. Further, of course, as in the desktop segment, you must either completely switch to a new process, or invent something with architecture.

As for the laptop, the M15 is almost perfect. There are two real complaints about it: I want the speakers louder, and fans are quieter. At full speed they are too noisy. The rest is an ideal workhorse. Easy, pretty, convenient to use and with a high -quality screen.
